OPPO A54s – Low price smartphone with 128 GB storage

OPPO A54s: Not all smartphone world people need the fastest processor or a five-lens camera.

For most folks, it’s primarily about getting solid performance, a good-enough look and reliable battery life, at a reasonable price. And that’s exactly what the OPPO A54s falls into.

Definitely targeting budget-minded buyers, the A54s isn’t going to offer high-end features but it will make sure that whatever it does offer, it can polish.

So is the base model good enough to justify a purchase? Let’s take a closer look.

Design and display: Budget Phone, Nice Looks

Introducing the OPPO A54sOne of the first things you’ll notice about the OPPO A54s is its sleek design.

Its shiny plastic back has the appearance of glass from a distance. It comes in posh shades such as Crystal Black and Pearl Blue and has a classy aura that belies its price.

It’s got a decent weight to it as well, coming in at just under 190g, but we didn’t find it too hefty. The rear camera arrangement is neat, and the side power button also includes a fingerprint scanner you can use with just one hand to unlock your phone.

At the front is a 6.52-inch IPS LCD screen with HD+ 1600×720 pixels resolution.

It’s not the sharpest of displays, but it’s more than up to the task for everyday use, whether you’re watching video, browsing or messaging.

It is bright and has good viewing angles (although it might face an issue under the sun).

Fabric Performance All in One: Designed to Wear Every Single Day

Under the hood, the OPPO A54s is powered by MediaTek Helio G35 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.

This is by no means a beast, but for everyday jobs — WhatsApping, YouTubing, emailing and casual gaming — it’s fine.

This is a budget phone, and if you push it with multitasking, for example, or some heavier apps you will notice some lag.

But for an average user, (and even a person transitioning from an old budget phone), the performance will be more than adequate.

The phone runs ColorOS 11.1 on top of Android 11, bringing useful additions like dark mode, gesture navigation and app cloning.

I rather like the OPPO skin, it’s quite user-friendly but you are going to have a few preloaded apps to tussle with (some of which you won’t use and can delete).

9N1 Camera: Gets the job done, not flashy Camera is serviceable rather than flashy.

Cameras aren’t a highlight here — even if there are three on the back of the OPPO A54s: 50MP main sensor supported by 2MP depth and 2MP macro lenses.

Under normal routine light, the 50MP camera takes some okay pictures with okay details and okay color balance.

The depth sensor is for portrait shots, and the macro lens is here for close-up experiments, the results of which are more hit-and-miss.

Front camera (8MP) The selfie and video chatting camera is just ok, you aren’t going to get great studio level pictures.

Night photography is bad — the camera isn’t good in low light and it’s full of noise. With that being said, it’s good enough for snapshots on social media and casual snaps.

Battery Life: The Real MVP

When it comes to battery life, the OPPO A54s is a real winner. The phone runs on a 5000mAh battery that will comfortably get you through a day if not more with normal use.

Whether you are streaming video, listening to music or just plain browsing, it can power you through.

You get regular old 18W charging out of the box for the Pixel 4a, which is no speed demon, but it gets the phone charged. It charges from zero to full in a little over two hours.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

Sleek, premium-looking design

Long-lasting 5000mAh battery

Decent 50MP main camera

Large 6.52-inch display

Great price for storage (128gb)

Cons:

Gaming and multitasking is slowed down by the low-end processor

No fast refresh rate

Lod light camera not that good..

Ships with Android 11, not the latest software

OPPO A54s: Final Verdict

The OPPO A54s isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel – it’s straightforward and smart and brings something dependable for those of us who simply want a no-nonsense user experience from a smartphone.

If you’re just the person who needs a solid daily driver, something that gets the job done today and looks and feels good — without burning a hole in your pocket, this phone has you covered.

Of course, it’s not perfect – but in this price bracket there’s plenty to like about the A54s as Santa Rosa’s latest affordable, high-value entry in the budget smartphone market.
